For all of you wanting to try out for a captain position.... This process involves several steps. Step one: attend the middle school try-outs and help teach the routine. Step two: write an essay that will be due at the first practice in June. I'll send guidelines out soon. Step three: lead by example and continue to be on your best behavior through all summer practices and fundraisers. Finally, the announcement will be made at the end of Band camp! 2006 DHS AUXILLARY INFORMATION Summer Practice We will meet once every week or two starting on the first Monday in June. At most there will be six practices. We will work on basic dance, flag and rifle training. If everyone catches on quick we will remove a few of these practices. If you are auditioning for a captain position it is important that you attend these rehearsals. Dates for Practice: June 5th June 12th June 19th June 26th July 3rd July 10th Band camp and guard camp are both mandatory events that will be held at DHS during the month of July. Members who are new or wish to audition for a captain position must also attend rookie camp. Band members do not need to attend the summer guard but are encouraged to come. Guard Camp: July 17th -19th Rookie Camp: July 20th-21st Band Camp: July 24th -28th Fundraisers We will be starting our first fundraiser next week. Each member is required to get at least 5 sponsorships for $10.00 each. This money will go to our 2006 team shirt and other group supplies. I will have more information for each of you later. We will also start car washes soon. In order to hold a car was there must be at least 5 members present. Money earned at car washes will be split equally among those who attended. This money will go into your account to pay for your personal expenses. Once we return from summer break we will start sales fundraisers. These will also help to add money to your accounts. Due Dates You may order our own black pants and shoes. Please see me for guidelines first. If you chose to order your own we will put in one order at the beginning of next school year. If you have pants and shoes from previous years you do not need to order new ones. These items will be used for parades, cold football games and other performance where you do not need a show uniform. T-shirt Sponsors end of this year (May) Field Uniform as early as May and as late as June 5th Rifle June 26th Competition Fees August Winter Uniform November Expenses These are estimates of what you should expect to pay. These prices are not set in stone. I will continue to look or the best prices on the items we need. This list is here to give you an idea of what you will need to purchase this year. You will also need to fill out a yellow release form and have it turned in before the end of this year. Please keep this paper in a safe place so you can refer to it over the summer.
